A Bittersweet Birthday
Jul. 10th, 2003 09:15 pmFirst, thank you guys who wished me well today....made me feel good.
It's been either sunny or gloomy most of the day, which seemed to be appropriate for the way the day worked out....some good, some not so much.
A good friend I hadn't heard from in months not only called me for my birthday, but took me out for a treat. Spent time talking to family and friends which was quite cool.
But all my silver linings have dark clouds in them....as the rain fell, I started thinking about some of the problems my friends are going through. Out of the usual suspects I spent my birthday with last year:
2 are in the process of losing their homes
1 just lost their mother
Another has lost their father...
Bankruptcy, Addiction, etc, etc, etc...
Which started me thinking about my life right now...
Which (quite briefly) led me close to being depressed on my birthday.
But with the help of pleasant distractions by
shadesong, a phone call from
stigmatic on her vacation and a blatant threat from
irana, I rebelled and spent a pleasant dinner with L and The Child.
Now I shall settle down and see what amusement and enlightenment the 'puter gods have to offer.
