With heavy heart (and sad wallet), it has become undeniable that we need a new (to us, at least) car.

Since there is just [livejournal.com profile] felishathekitty and me, we don't need a minivan or SUV.

And not looking for a putt-putt car that fits 3 barely - sedan or coupe.

Wanna stay under 15,000 - and a small to mid-size truck is not completely out of the question...

Looking for 2001 - 2005 range (maybe earlier if it's a BMW convertible - gotta dream...)

Any input, insight, suggestions or warnings would be greatly appreciated.

What say you?

I recently bought a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser for 11,000. It's a pretty cool ride. It does well on long trips, it has lots of room. I highly recommend the limited edition trim level. It's a Consumer Reports Best Bet, or I wouldn't even consider it...I thought they were just novelty cars. I still prefer my Cherokee but it's not always practical.

My family loves Camrys. They last forever, get great gas milage, and used ones you can generally get for a reasonable amount.

We were actually thinking of this -- how do you like the engine?

right now I'm loving the mazda 3 hatchback, the pontiac vibe, and the toyota matrix. i'm pretty sure the latter two have regular ac outlets in the console, so that's neet...

i love my new Elanta. I better since it is my second, lol, but not sure if it is the right size for ya, but I was out the door at well under 15,000 with 5 yr 60000 mile warranty, free lifetime oil changes, and free roadside for 5 years

Anything but a Ford. And I like them. But they just don't make em like they used to :-(

Well, since you already bought another car, I guess it's a moot point. The engine is...meh....not a powerhouse by any SOTI. But I took it to Atlanta last weekend and it hopped around town fairly well and kept up nicely on the interstate.

Of course now I am looking at trading my Jeep for a crew cab truck. I am so very bad.
