NOTE:

This is not about one person, situation or event.

This is not a recent phenomenon...this has been percolating in my mind for months.

It's not a rant - it is my version of fact/opinion in letter form. Take it as such.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear You.

Life ain't easy. It hurts sometimes...many times it hurts like a son of a bitch. That's why it's not called paradise - it's called life.

You are not a little child anymore reading/living a fairy tale where everyone wins. Or the good guys win and the bad guys get what's coming to them. Or where the solution makes everyone happy. You're not a little kid anymore who picks on people who are different or treats people like crap because you think the whole world revolves around you. Getting pouty because people don't agree with you so you take your ball and go home is so 3rd grade. Reacting to life like you're still in Pull-Ups keeps you at that level, mentally & emotionally. Time for adults to start kinda acting like grown-ups - suck it up.

The actions/situations of being "grown" are hard...the important decisions are difficult and will probably cause pain. Your demons, your fears, your pain is real, no matter if anyone can see them or if most don't understand them. You will find out that sometimes you will say or do things that are true and right, that may have unexpected results. Understand that this does not make you a bad person for doing the right thing, or responsible for what happens after you give your opinion.

Sometimes you have to realize that there is no happy ending...that all options will cause pain of varying degrees. That's when you have to find your backbone, your foundation and decide to make a difficult, painful decision in the short-term (weeks, months, years), to reclaim your life in the long term(decades). Age has taught me that one, big time. :)

And it's fine to be scared....just don't let the fear of making a decision keep you in a place that is not healthy short and/or long term for you and the people you care about.

Action defeats fear.

You can do it.

What a wonderfully eloquent post.

As someone once dear to me said in response to my own similar situation (many years ago, but I've never forgotten it)...

"shit or get off the pot"

~chuckle~

I just surfed over here briefly from [livejournal.com profile] blessyoursouls, and I just have to say I love this post. I've had to find some courage myself lately, and "Action defeats fear" is not only true, but it makes an excellent mantra. :)
