Geek Stuff - ignore if not interested

Have a friend who had a website developed in Flash by someone who is turning out to be less than scrupulous.  They are trying to renegotiate the deal by not updating the website...since it is in Flash, I know I can't help - and I'm not sure what security measures are involved in updating a Flash-based website without the original "code".

Any guidance or ideas?  Or will she just have to succumb to the "blackmail"?

Flash publishes with an uneditable swf file. If you don't have the native fla file you are totally SOL.

Does s/he have a contract?
