I was always a fan of his movies. Hammer horror and his association with that ilk were always guarantees of a wonderfully evil performance. Often with a campy edge that was a delight. I saw a wonderful interview with him where he explained how he loved to go to matinees of his movies and enter after the lights went down and sit behind a pair of girls. As the credits rolled before the lights went up he would lean forward and in that inimitable voice ask “ Well, How did you like my movie…?”. He was always pleased with the results.
