A bill introduced in Congress Thursday aims to overturn a controversial royalty fee increase that Internet radio advocates say threatens to cripple their services.

The "Internet Radio Equality Act," introduced by Reps. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) and Don Manzullo (R-Ill.), would invalidate a March 2 decision by the U.S. Copyright Royalty Board that calls for raising royalty rates paid by Net radio operators

Heh. I'd be willing to bet that a good portion of those emails came from folks on one or the other of Sixthman's music cruises. I originally saw the info on Carbon Leaf's website, then someone posted it on the Rock Boat board and from there it spread to the message boards for all the other cruises as well.

I sent a letter, and got a response back from 2 of the 3 folks that it was sent to. Granted, the response is of the "Thanks for contacting me... I'll keep your comments in mind." variety, but at least the response was for what I was actually concerned about. :)
