reprobayt: (WTF?!!?!)
[personal profile] reprobayt
It's hot.
I know.

Drink water. Stay hydrated.
Stay in the shade. Dress accordingly.
If you have issues with the heat healthwise, take care of yourself and do what needs to be done.
Find places with A/C you can hang out.
Don't be silly - use your A/C even if it's just to get the house to 78 degrees...the electric bill will figure itself out.

All that said:

Hearing people who live in area where it has always gotten hot in the SUMMERTIME complain about how hot it is like it's a surprise OMGWTFBBWSUMMERPOCOLPYSE makes me want to do evil things to them with a dry ice Popsicle. If you didn't have the Media blaring at you that we're all going to die from the YEARLY24HOURNEWSCYCLEITSF*CKINHOTALOOZA, you'd walk outside, say "It's hot." then either went out or stayed in without need of therapy.

Toughen up. Just sayin.

But see... If you live in Death Valley, and you find it is hot.. You know you live in Death Valley. If you live in Florida, and you step out of the house, and palm trees are melting.. It's a little hotter than the heat we's used to.

I promise that all my ZOMG WHY IS IT SO HOT IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THIS GORRAM HOT FOR THREE STRAIGHT MONTHS is straight from my own fevered brain and has nothing to do with the media because my cable is broken.

For once I can say it is really nice out side. :) Now if the rest of the summer could just be like this. Warm enough for shorts, tank tops, sun dresses and going swimming. But cool enough to leave the windows open. Plus the humidity is low. So I can actually open my windows and still breath. :)

I can't blame people for complaining. This has been a really warm and humid summer. We have been above normal temperatures most of the summer. We have also had way more humidity in the last 2 months then normal. I have had to run my a/c way more then normal this year.

Dude. You come live in Oklahoma for a summer. Then you'll know our pain.

Date: 2010-07-26 04:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] reprobayt.livejournal.com
I do know your pain. I grew up in the Midwest.

It's not the fact that it's hot. It's the fact that there are people who have lived in these areas for years (most of them willingly) and were complaining once the heat index/temperature hit 90 as if it was a surprise.

I'm just crotchety today - if I had a lawn I'd be yelling for people to get off it. :)

Ah didn't realize it was Crotchety Old Man day. :)

Well then you're excused. Yell at anyone who crosses your path.

And yea, the people who complain excessively about it really need to buck up. Its always Africa Hot in Oklahoma during the summer. I still think it sucks though.

This is why I can go days without stepping outside. Too damn hot. Granted, our ac isn't strong enough to compensate for how hot the house has been getting (older home, needs new insulation upstairs) so my room, where I work all day, is staying about 82 degrees. Which is better than a couple of weeks ago when it was 86 in here. But yeah, it's hot, it's always hot this time of year. It's why I only go out in the morning or evening and avoid the heat of the day.

I am in complete agreement. People here in freaking TEXAS are surprised it's hot again. Uhm...how long have you lived here? And it's done the same thing every year?

I am in complete agreement here. I stay inside (heat related health issues) and when I have to go outside (say, for grocery shopping), I do it early morning. Which is nice because it's also like I have the whole store to myself.

And I keep thinking to myself...if I can survive Chicago HeatWave 1995 (which killed 700+ people in a 5 day period) while being 8 months pregnant, I can survive this!

I enjoy your soapbox and will be attending all your shows.

Also, I don't know why people complain about the heat.

Heat = less clothes

Which is win for everyone involved.

We are having a horrible summer up here, higher temps and more humid than usual. Lots of breakthrough downpours that only make it worse every couple of days.

Being on a medication that takes away my ability to sweat has been awful, but i have had to find ways to deal.

My car has no a/c; on days i drive my long commute, i swap cars with the hubby.

I've already had heat exhaustion once this summer. Now about to get off of the stupid medication of too many side effects.

Thanks for the tough love reminder.

So Atlanta is definitely earning the Hotlanta moniker?

*aims the fan down south* Take care!

T_T I always hated that "Hotlanta" thing.

It's Georgia. Yes. It's hot. Sure, cities have, uhhh, hip, hot, happenin' places to be.

Or some shit like that.

...yeah. Just makes me think of the sticky humidity of late July every time I hear it. Blegh. WAY TO ADVERTISE.

The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me. A recent news story was a 20-something man dies while biking with the heat index of 118. What was he planning after? yard work?

I spent Saturday/Sunday saying "OMG it is hot...when is the AC repairman going to get here." AC blew a capacitor which was an easy...and relatively cheap fix.

I'm not so acclimated to GA summers anymore. It annoys me when the occasional spikes of it we get up here extend into week long forays that even Thunderstorms of Serious Downpouring Business only make WORSE.

Also, in fairness, lots of places got mid-late July temps starting in early June this year.

Hopefully this will signify a milder winter as far as that snow and ice crap goes?

...yeah. sure. in NW Indiana. BWHAHA. Not. T_T *thud.*

Bite me. :P I'm not normally one to complain, and I don't think I've done it too much this year. But. We hit late July/August temps in June, which just pissed me off. :|

I did love though, making fun of the newscasters advertising a heat wave coming through that gave us the same temperatures we'd had for the last several weeks. Genius.

Besides, I'm positively adorable when chanting OMGI'MSOFUCKINGHOTI'MMELTINGIMIGHTACTUALLYDIE!

however... I complain when it is hot.... but you never hear me complain when it is cold. Soooo... I figure I have at least a comment or two to make.
But it does get old when that is all people can discuss.... fo schizzle
