Am I the only one tired of hearing Moms panicking about their chlid's first day of school like they are a member of the "300"?

It is just the first day of their "working" life... as school is the precursor of jobs.... Too many parents have become helicopters

I find this confusing, since a true Spartan mother would say to their child, "Come back with your shield, or on it." Which for modern day school should probably mean, "Achieve your goals. Don't make excuses, and don't fuck up." This is actually a far cry from, "Just do your best, and I'll be proud." Kind of a tigermom thing there, though I can't say I disagree. While I'm by no means a, "You make all A's or you get no fun time, and you eat gruel!" I'm also opposed to, "Everybody gets a trophy just for playing yaaaaay!"

On the other hand, milestones are milestones. Attention should be heeded. Just.. don't keep doing it every year. Cut the apron strings for cosmo's sake. I anticipate that the first day of school will be early drinks for the grownups day by 3rd grade around here. "OH THANK GOD SHE'S NOT BUGGING US FOR STUFF TO DO... IT'S COOLERS TIME!"

i get tired of hearing about people's children, period. i mean i understand that for a long part of ones life, the child is a big part of it.its just when its the ONLY part of it...it reminds me of all the women i met who were so hungry to have a baby that they didnt care who the father was, or if they could support the child financially, or even if they had any parenting skills. or all the women who have children then fail to exist as a person outside of being a mother. to each their own, i suppose, and im sure im a bit more independent than most, but i like to see a person who has more variable conversation than the fact their kid took a dump in the toilet for the first time.
